Faking It In Business

How important do you think it is to get respect and authority in the business world? Is it important enough to fake how you act and what you say on a daily basis?

In my experience, both personally and professionally, I have watched on many occasions and noted how different people will stretch, bend, tarnish, fade and outright shatter what they truly think in order to gain someone's approval. Why do people do this? Is it because they want to avoid conflict, or because they know that unless they are able to get whomever it is on their side, they won't be able to achieve whatever objective it is they have with that person.

Sometimes, we need others in order to gain our own success. In our personal lives, with our families and friends we have relationships we need to sustain. In the office world, we work along side  people that we need to work with on plans and projects that can sometimes make, or break the success of it.

Do you think in 2013, faking it, is a prerequisite in order to get ahead/get what you want?

  1. Yes, I have also noticed this growing trend in the workplace. It seems to be the norm to fake your way to the top these days. The days of working your butt off, seems to be a thing of the past...smh

“Fake It Till You Make It If You Want to Be Successful or Achieve a Goal”, is a phrase a lot of people use. There are some people who have taken this to a literal extreme for example lying about their accomplishments or life circumstances. I believe that this phrase is not about deception but about imitating confidence which will produce success for example if you are having a bad day you have to fake it in order to lift yourself up in the eyes of the public.
